This is part of our winning job search strategy series . . .

The 7 Step Job Search (c) is a powerful proven formula for finding a job quicker.  It is a mini business plan used by every CEO of ME, Inc. who is managing their career just like a business owner. This is aligned with the Empowering Today's Professionals (ETP) slogan; Running the Business of "ME".  The goal of this 7 step business plan is to identify, connect and leverage advocates willing to champion or guide your resume to hiring managers, decision makers and human resource staff within companies.

Step #5: Connect with advocates.  Based on advocates identified in step #3, it's time to make that move by contacting them.  This is usually the most difficult step to get past.  Yes, you must pick up that old technology, referred to as a telephone, to call advocates

Write out a telephone script.  Ask friends, family or business associates to play advocate so you can practice your presentation.  Practice, practice, practice so your introduction rolls off your your tongue naturally.  This builds confidence.  Luckily for members of  Empowering Today's Professionals we have pre-written scripts available in our reference library.  And there are plenty of willing members in our network to practice with, as well.

Practice does make perfect.
